Main Article Content
Abstract
The red room is the sector of the emergency care unit that has an open door to receive urgent and emergency cases, whose work environment tends to operate under conditions of intense pressure, with a high possibility of unfavorable outcomes for patients, which makes the challenging scenario. This article proposes an analysis of cases treated in the Red Room of an Emergency Care Unit (UPA) located in the northern region of the state of Rondônia, Brazil, focusing on the perspectives of the pharmaceutical professional. Using a mixed approach (qualitative and quantitative), the retrospective descriptive documentary study was based on data obtained through care records from March to August 2023, through CEP approval. 185 medical records were gathered, which demonstrated the prevalence of care for the elderly, with the majority corresponding to the female group. Of this total, 124 mentioned the use of continuous medications, with comorbidities belonging to the cardiovascular system being the most prevalent. The insertion of the clinical practice of the pharmaceutical professional in the urgency and emergency environment aims to identify problems related to medications and seek solutions, with a tendency to minimize medication errors in their various stages in the intra-hospital environment.
