OFF-ROAD MODALITIES, PHYSIOLOGICAL IMPLICATIONS ON THE ATHLETE'S HEALTH: AN INTEGRATIVE LITERATURE REVIEW
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objective: to analyze the physiological parameters in the health of athletes who practice off-road sports, identifying physiological characteristics that may interfere with the health and performance of these athletes. Methodology: this is an integrative literature review research. The articles were selected by using descriptors in the SciELO, PubMed and Medline databases, and being selected based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Conclusion: off-road modalities have positive influences on the physiological aspects of the pilots who practice them, being beneficial in reducing cardiovascular risk, reducing the progression of diabetes, and improving physical conditioning. On the other hand, the acute effects of this sport prove to be harmful in some situations, and may generate stress and oxidative damage in the plasma.
