MAJOR MUSCULOSKELETAL CHANGES IN POSTMENOPAUSAL WOMEN: AN INTEGRATIVE REVIEW

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the main musculoskeletal changes in postmenopausal women and their effects on daily life. Methods: This is an integrative review based on searches in the Lilacs, SciELO and Medline databases. The following descriptors were used: “menopause”, “postmenopausal changes” and “musculoskeletal changes”. The inclusion criteria used were: articles published from 2005 to 2021, in the languages: Portuguese and English, available in full text free of charge in the consulted electronic databases. The studies were presented in a table considering: type of study, place/country where it was developed, objectives, strategies used in the intervention, way of evaluating the results of the intervention, main results and conclusion. Results: 10 articles were selected for the study. The contents of the research found referred to the main musculoskeletal alterations in postmenopausal women. The results obtained from the application of followers who sought to analyze the main signs and symptoms associated with postmenopause, the main symptom being pain. Conclusion: In view of the analyzed articles, musculoskeletal alterations were found in menopausal women, among them, the main ones were: low back pain, spine pain, muscle pain and strains in muscles of different body areas.
